Hoop Convergence 2013, the sixth of these conscious creative gatherings, will continue to inspire and deepen our practice(s) and community within the hoop and beyond. held outside the beautiful Hooper Haven of Carrboro, North Carolina, an area rich with devout hoopers, grassroots communities and biodiversity. Hoop Convergence brings together the skills of talented teachers and performers from around the continent and beyond. Hoop Dance was the potent seed of Hoop Convergence, and will always be the foundation of this event and a thread that weaves us together. For me, everything comes back to the circle. However, as an individual and an artist, my practices have continued to grow and expand since the birth of this retreat, as have many of the paths of artists who have collaborated in this event year after year. Thus, it stands to follow that this retreat would evolve, just as we do. This year, in addition to our fantastic lineup of hoop instructors, we will continue to practice inclusion by calling in some amazing artists in the realms of Circus & Flow Arts and Conscious Embodiment practices. You’ll have the option to explore contact staff, flow wand, aerial acrobatics, partner acro/AcroYoga, slackline, Ecstatic Dance, yoga, cyr wheel and more.
